January 6, 2012

I'm not sure where to start so much has happened over the past little bit, so i think since i'm so behind i'll start fresh and go with January 6, 2012. We were sleeping wnderfully and then all the sudden we are waking up to The foster people, Pumped up kicks! ( my ring tone). It was Christy telling us Tia is in labor! We were shocked and not awake considering it was 3:30 in the morning! Casey said jokingly "maybe we should sleep for alittle bit so were not so tired"" ya right were having a baby!" I have to say as I'm getting ready. Casey says "so how old does he have to be before we can go ice fishing?" It was hilarious! We finally get to the hospital around 4:30, Tia got there around 12:00 not even crying about being in pain, so when the nurse checked her she was already a 4. She was so strong! Tia's wonderful mom and dad along with her grandma, grandpa Howard came a little later, epidural's aren't his favorite! Tia's aunt annie and angie were there supporting as well! Of course Jessie was there, he was very tired but was just as strong! Jessie's mom came a little bit later to help support as well! Poor Tia had to wait a few more hours for Carson to decide he was ready but by 1:50 pm he wanted out. Tia was amazing, no tears,no complaints just determination. Within 15 minutes of pushing and he arrived in this world at 2:14pm. All Tia had to say that wasnt that hard! Wow! that is one strong young lady. Carson decided he wanted to hang out for a few days so he was admitted to the nicu where he was first placed on the ventilator to strengthen his lungs. He had to be on it for one night and then oxygen till Tuesday morning. We continued to hang out in the NICU for the week. Come Thursday, I was supposed to go to work, but once I got to the NICU, they moved Carson to a level 2 NICU, where they were just monitoring his feedings, and O2. We were so excited, we knew this meant we would be coming home soon. We talked with the Pediatrician and she said that we needed to do a car seat test and that would determine if he would need to come home on oxygen. They did the test, and he failed :( but he was close. He had to be in there for an hour and a half and he made it an hour. Once they informed us of this, they said we would be coming home on oxygen and a monitor, but before we could come home, we had to stay there over night to make sure we could handle the monitors. This was unexpected, and honestly not the best night we've ever had, with the toilet flushing noises we could hear through the wall, us freezing and then getting hot ( the thermostat was in the other room with another couple running the temp, bless their heart), we had lots of fun, I told Casey Super 8 is better, because you at least get cable and a continental breakfast! :) We made it and boy were we glad that night ended. We made it home the following morning exhausted, we set up the pack and play in the living room and both of us crashed on the couches for the rest of the morning. So now life at home........
